“Roberto, the name of your father is a very common name for a man but Roberta the feminine version is not. When I and your father were deciding on names for a girl, since the doctor had already told us you would be a girl, I liked the names Roberta and Mariana, your father wanted to name you Lucia. But I liked the name Roberta and that’s what we named you. When I was eight months pregnant you started having problems with your heart and it would stop beating at times. The doctor decided that we should take you out from my belly immediately and so I was so afraid of losing you and I started praying to virgin Mary to help you and to keep you alive and I promised her that if you survived I would name you Maria, and that is how you were named Roberta Maria.”
